The village of Roumengoux

A city

Charming

The town was rebuilt according to the regular plans of the bastides after a vast flood in 1289. The square has retained its original and medieval structure. You will be able to observe its 15th-century coverings and superb half-timbered houses on wooden galleries.

Famous for its

cathedral

The first Stone of this cathedral was laid in 1298. This Meridional Gothic style church is characterized by a single nave, 22 meters wide, making it the second largest single nave church in Europe.

Market and animations

Festive city

Very attractive, Mirepoix offers many events from April to November (Medieval festivals, puppet festival, potters’ market, apple festival…). Not to be missed: the big Monday morning market! You will enjoy strolling between the stalls in a friendly and colorful atmosphere.

The Summum: have a drink on the terrace

When the weather is nice I like to settle down at a terrace under the covers of the main square of Mirepoix to have a drink with friends. I find it a place full of charm and depending on the exposure of the sun, you can admire the beautiful colors of the half-timbered houses which gives the little extra something to an already beautiful place.
