You will be charmed throughout the year by the numerous animations that take place in the city. Moreover, the city welcomes every Monday on the main square a market which is worth the detour.

RoquefixadeThe bastide of Roquefixade is an authentic village, full of history and an unmissable hiking spot. Indeed, it is crossed by two GR (107 and 367) and has many hiking loops on its territory. The ancient village was a victim of the crusade against the Albigensians. The king of France rebuilt a royal fortress on the site of the latter. The village was moved to the foot of the mountain to be built in bastide.
The village of Montségur was built at the end of the 15th century at the foot of the famous pog where the current castle is perched. The village is well exposed because it is built in soulane. One can still observe rare examples of passages under the houses which are locally called “cantous” in wood or stone. On its central square is the church with its wall bell tower.

On this same esplanade, you will find panels of interpretation of the landscape to better appreciate the Pyrenean range as well as picnic tables. Moreover, if you wish, a hike allows you to discover its numerous fountains.
The hamlet of Peyregade located on the commune of Montferrier, nestles in the heart of the narrow valley where the Touyre river flows. One enters this small mountain hamlet through an open door, letting us discover houses where time seems to have stopped. Paths will lead you to the Teychou waterfall or an enigmatic rock called “sacrifice stone”. Warning : We advise against camping car drivers to take the road to Peyregade.

Saint FelixThis village is the only circulade in the Cathar Pyrenees. Its row of houses participated directly in the fortifications. They enclose in the shape of an ellipse an imposing church, dedicated to Saint félix. The latter has a monumental bell tower called “en comb”. The medieval village was once surrounded by ditches and one of its parish priests was an accomplice of the resistant knights of Montségur in their retreat from the assassination of the inquisitors in Avignonet in May 1242.
