Domaine de La Trille is a family farm covering over 200 hectares, with horses and Limousin cows. We have two luxury self-catering gîtes with air conditioning and four original, unusual wooden caravans.
Domaine de la Trille lies on the border between the Aude and Ariège departments, between Pamiers, Castelnaudary and Carcassonne. It is 1h30 from the Principality of Andorra.
Just 5 minutes away is Mirepoix, a medieval town whose square is surrounded by historic buildings. There are plenty of restaurants and shops here, as well as tourist attractions throughout the year: the swing and historical festivals, MIMA: the puppet festival, the weekly Monday market, the flower market, etc.
Florence and her brother Benoit keep a herd of Limousin cows numbering around a hundred. They will be delighted to show you around their farm and share their passion.
On the farm, you'll find a shop selling farm and local produce, open on request.
For dinner or lunch, you can buy tins of veal stew or blanquette made with their meat.
When it comes to sightseeing, you'll be spoilt for choice, as the Domaine de la Trille overlooks two departments, the seaside Aude and the mountainous Ariège. In the Aude, you can visit the city of Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, finishing in Narbonne with a stop at the magnificent Fontfroide Abbey. In the Ariège, you can explore a number of small chapels such as Vals, or caves such as Niaux and Mas d'Azil, or discover prehistory at Tarascon sur Ariège... So don't hesitate to embark on this unusual getaway, where you can take time out to enjoy the countryside, eating at the private garden tables around each caravan, and letting your children frolic in the open fields all around. And watch the horses graze peacefully in the meadow.
