Trailer ride

Would you like to?

La Ferme aux bisons is a park dedicated to animals, where you can enjoy the evolution of various common species and others from more distant lands.

We recommend that you start your visit by climbing into the tractor-drawn trailer to discover the farm! It’s an unusual experience that lasts around 1h15 and is optional on reservation. Pauline and I tried it out and loved it!

At the controls of the farm machine, an enthusiastic guide takes us on a tour of the animals in semi-liberty, giving us lots of information about their way of life. He really takes the time to answer questions and adds a touch of humor to his explanations. Observation from the trailer takes us right up close to the animals, for a truly immersive experience!

The walking trail

everyone at their own pace!

After the tractor tour, the discovery of the site continues. It’s as easy as following the arrows! Very much at home in the Pyrenean wilderness, unusual animals such as ostriches, emus, rheas, cattle, marras and many other species await you.

This walking tour will delight young and old alike. There’s plenty of room for animals, and discovering them in a natural environment is a wonderful experience.

No-nonsense info

La Ferme aux bisons has a herd of 19 American bison (Bison bison). These large bovids are ruminants that feed almost exclusively on grass.

They have imposing muscles, short but powerful legs and elongated, bushy heads topped by large, arched horns. Stockier than their European cousins, they exude quiet strength, but can become aggressive if threatened. They can run at a top speed of 70km/h and leap 2 m high! In captivity, a bison can live between 20 and 25 years, and its tongue is as blue as a giraffe’s!

Bison are essential to biodiversity, helping to regenerate flora and circulate water in the soil through their trampling. Its rarefaction on the American plains has impoverished the land, making it less able to adapt to global warming…

The mini-farm

We end our visit with a visit to the mini farm, where the animals roam freely: pigs, geese, goats… the little ones are amazed at how close you can get to them.

Last stop: the boutique! The children will be delighted to take home a souvenir of this wonderful day, and the grown-ups can set their sights on the farm’s delicacies (preparations based on fallow deer, deer and sometimes bison meat).

We leave the Bison Farm with our heads full of images and feeling tired after this breath of fresh air in the hills!
