La Ferme aux bisons is a 70-hectare wildlife park where numerous species of animals such as bison, aurochs, highlands, emus, rheas and deer roam in semi-freedom… Come and take a deep breath of fresh air in the vast meadows of this exotic site, and learn more about the lives of these animals while having fun at the same time.

How about a trailer ride?

La Ferme aux bisons is a park dedicated to animals in which we enjoy seeing various common species evolve and others from more distant countries.

We advise you to start your visit by climbing into the trailer pulled by the tractor to discover the farm! It’s an unusual experience that lasts around 1h15 and is optional on reservation. Pauline and I tried it out, and we loved it!

At the controls of the farm machine, a passionate guide takes us on a semi-free tour of the animals and gives us lots of information about their lifestyles. He really takes the time to answer questions, and enlivens his explanations with a pleasant touch of humor. Observation from the trailer takes us right up close to the animals, the immersion is complete!

The walking trail

everyone at their own pace!

After the tractor tour, the discovery of the site continues. It’s as easy as following the arrows! In their natural environments, unusual animals such as ostriches, emus, rheas, cattle, marras and many other species await.

This walking tour will delight young and old alike. Animals have plenty of room, and discovering them in a natural environment is magnificent.

No-nonsense info!

The Bison Farm has a herd of 19 American bison (Bison bison). These large bovids are ruminants that feed almost exclusively on grass.

These animals have imposing musculature, rather short but very powerful legs, and an elongated, bushy head topped by large, arched horns. Stockier than their European cousins, they exude quiet strength, but can become aggressive if threatened. They can run at a top speed of 70km/h and leap 2 m high! In captivity, a bison can live between 20 and 25 years, and as you can guess from the photo in the background, it has a blue tongue, just like a giraffe!

Finally, it’s an animal essential to biodiversity, helping to regenerate flora and circulate water in the soil through its trampling. Its increasing scarcity on the American plains has led to the impoverishment of the land, making it less able to adapt to global warming…

The mini-farm

We finish our visit with the mini farm where the animals are free to roam, pigs, geese, goats… the little ones are amazed by the closeness you can have with them.

Last stop: a visit tothe boutique! The little ones will be delighted to take home a souvenir of this wonderful day, and the older ones can set their sights on the farm’s delicacies (preparations based on fallow deer, deer and sometimes bison meat).

We leave the Bison Farm with our heads full of images, and feeling quite tired after taking this big breath of fresh air in the hills!
